Activello Update Has Given me too many Featured posts in slider

I updated activello and then found out the slider chooses its featured posts from categories.

I liked it how it was before, using the latest four posts.

I have read lots of the forum topics about making categories to choose but I simply want either the old theme back or from what I’ve read, theres a “child theme”. I found this from one of the forums and uploaded it to my wordpress theme. It’s all in there, I see it when i go to editor. But I do not know what i’m supposed to change in the child code or activello code to change the amount of featured posts in my slider! Its still all my posts from the beginning of time since i havent chosen a category, thanks to the new update.

Please help! http://rachelinwanderland.com/

Hi @rachelinwanderland,

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

You can try achieving this by using the attached custom child theme of Activello theme that contains some custom code.

Best Regards,
Movin

Just tried to install it but it failed because i already had a child theme installed (as i said in my first post). Not sure how to uninstall the current child theme? I have attatched the one I currently have installed.

Furthermore i still would not be sure what to change in the html of the child theme to choose the amount of posts for the slider.

Just delete the existing child theme that you are using and then install and activate the child theme that i shared above.

Furthermore i still would not be sure what to change in the html of the child theme to choose the amount of posts for the slider.

You do not need to change anything i have changed the code in the above shared child theme to display only 4 slides in the slider.

It worked !

Thank you so much

You are most welcome here

Hello,
same problem with my site… there are so many slider pics and i was ok with just 4 or 6… isnt there a code for the CSS or activello adjustements? Because i tried your zip file (child theme) and my site was completely destroyed in the preview…
Maybe you can help me??

Thanks a lot !!

@juli2202 To help us keep support thread separates could you please create your own thread for your question here https://colorlibsupport.com/c/activello/ instead of replying on others thread as it makes the thread messy and hard to read.

If you want to you can also add reference of this thread in your newly created thread.

We would be more than happy to help you on your new thread.

@ rachelinwanderland
Just wanted to say I agree with you about liking it the way it was before. I feel the child theme should be reserved for anything new, not to get something back to the way it was originally. That was one of the features attracted to and deciding factors with choosing Activello…

Do you have any instructions on where to put this (below)? I just do not want to spend 2 days off and on trying to figure it out after stepping away from it 50 times because I’m overwhelmed and really rather be doing something else I need to work on. Thank you!

We received many requests to make this change in the theme so we did and provided option as a child theme to the users who don’t want this change like you. The child theme is not reserved for new changes, the child theme is used if you want to make any change in the theme. A lot of people use child theme on their site in advance even if they don’t want to make any changes in the theme so that if they want to change anything in theme then they can do it easily and using child theme doesn’t hurt their site anyway.

I appreciate your response.

To make any change = new (something that did not exist before).

Your design so your choice. Not here to go back and forth about it. I’ll just keep looking for another theme whereas hopefully, the owner/designer perhaps shares same views as I do.

You have no idea how much time I spent in making a decision. Absolutely love Activello but, it is what it is.

Thank you!

@jacqueline We have provided the solution in form of child theme to achieve it.

You are always welcome here
