Archives Dropdown Widget Not Working

The archives dropdown widget in my blog is not working. The dropdown menu displays and the months with the correct entry count show up fine, but when you click on a menu option it does not take you to the corresponding month. Any ideas?

Bump

Hi @hubs,

I hope you are well today and thanks for posting here.

I visited your site and it seems it’s not working on your site because of javascript error messages as shown in the attached screenshot.

This can be due to plugin conflict on your site so please try temporary deactivating all plugins and see whether everything works fine and then enable the plugins one by one to see which plugin is conflicting if any.

Kind Regards,
Movin

I have tried deactivating all of my plugins but archive menu options still only lead to the front page.

Any other ideas?

Would it have something to do with the “Post Name” permalink setting I have chosen?

Hi @hubs,

No it has nothing to do with your “Post Name” permalink settings.

The error messages are still there on your site.

I can see on your site you are using Sparkling child theme.

This can be child theme issue on your site so to confirm it just temporary use the Sparkling theme instead of child theme on your site. If everything works fine then it’s your child theme issue so just share me your child theme so that i can troubleshoot it.

Also if you have made any changes in the parent Sparkling theme then try reverting it.

Regards,
Movin

So I have switched to the Parent Sparkling Theme (not child) and am still having the same problem. The error you screenshot above are chrome-cast (know google chrome/chromecast/youtube issue) and adsense errors - nothing that should affect this drop down.

Could you please share me your site password privately by checking the option “Set as private reply” when replying here so that i can troubleshoot the issue further on your site?

I have set you up as and administrator. Thanks again for all your help!

Thank you for sharing the site details.

I logged in to your site using shared site credentials and temporary changed the activate theme to default WordPress theme but still the archive dropdown widget didn’t work correctly so it’s not the theme specific issue.

This can be the issue of advanced-cache plugin that is installed as mu-plugin on your site as shown in the attached screenshot. You can try temporary disabling this plugin by removing it from the directory wp-content/mu-plugins using FTP or File Manager as descried here https://codex.wordpress.org/Must_Use_Plugins

If it doesn’t help you to resolve the issue then try reintalling WordPress.

Unfortunately removing the must-use plugin didn’t do anything either. I guess I’ll try a reinstall someday when I have the time. Thanks for your effort!

You are most welcome here
