Hello this is a great theme btw and i prefer this over any “premium” templates i found over the last weeks.
I would like to change the background color or insert an image. How can i make that into the editor? It should look like the dota2 website, or as close as this.

PS: is it possible to make just one image into the slider to get this effect as a static header image?
You can change background via WordPress dashboard - Appearances - Background.
Yes, you could create similar effect using one slider with image like in dota2 website and the rest of the background you can set as black or dark or whatever to blend it perfectly with slider image.
