Blog page not displaying articles & Changing Sidebar

Hi

I’ve been tweaking the CSS on a site that someone else started (but didn’t complete).

I’m struggling with the following things:

1 - How to get the articles loading on the blog page? http://www.girlsincoding.co.uk/wp/blog
2 - How to rename the above page to “news”
3 - How to change the content of the sidebars on the other pages e.g. remove “archives” section

Please get back to me ASAP.

Hello Neel,

In order to set the blog page you need to go to Dashboard > Pages > Add new, create the News page and then select the Blog page template in the right panels.

After this just add the page in Dashboard > Appearances > Menus to the header menu and voilà, News page is up with content and the wanted name.

To change the sidebar content please check out Dashboard > Appearances > Widgets > Blog Sidebar.

Hi

Thanks so much for your quick response. Everything worked great thank you! I think the thing that threw me about the Blog sidebar was that under “widgets” there were no items, but but the page loaded with “Recent Posts”, “archives”, etc.

One question about the other pages (except the homepage and blog) e.g. http://www.girlsincoding.co.uk/wp/about/
The sidebar seems to copy what is being set by the Blog. Is there a way to have something separate for these pages?

Unfortunately, there’s only the option for that one sidebar to be used.
