Blog Posts Page

I am having the hardest time customizing my “Blog Posts” page. Tutorial after tutorial, every one glossing over the fact that page builders like Elementor do not affect this page alone. Things like background (container?) color, layout, etc.

Am I completely unable to customize my “Blog Posts” page in the Sparkling theme? I find the Customize feature doesn’t offer much of anything related to my problem. I’m sure I must be missing something…

Hi @bogme,

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

Could you please tell me what you want to customise in “Blog Posts” page and share me URL of it so that i can help you?

Best Regards,

Just trying to repost as my last reply doesnt seem to show up!:::

How about anything at all? If you notice, many features on the blog page are different from my other pages.

Pages I have many editing features for:

Blog Page (set to “Posts” page) that I don’t have any flexibility whatsoever:

I’d like to arrange the structure of how the blog posts are listed, control featured image’s size and placement, background color, etc. etc…basically functions available in my page builder. I realize I can still edit individual posts this way, but that doesn’t help me with the page that displays all my posts. It only seems to be able to display them with the large sized featured image, disconnected and above the post excerpt, taking up a lot of vertical space, when I’d like to display them closer together, more horizontally oriented, using thumbnail image versions of the featured images.

I think my question at this point is, why can I not edit my “posts” page with the same tools as my other pages? I realize after a whole night of researching this may be more of a WP issue than a Sparkling issue…but I’m not sure of that either.

You can not edit Blog posts page like other pages because Blog posts page is not actual page created in WordPress but it is dynamically created virtual page which the theme displays so if you want to change it then you have to create child theme of Sparkling theme and edit Blog posts template file in it.

Developing custom code for custom functionality is beyond the scope of support that we provide here.

If you are not a developer then you can consider hiring a developer to develop it for you. You can hire a developer from any freelance site. Colorlib recommends the developer

Thanks. I’m really trying to learn to do it myself, as I don’t have the money to hire someone else and want to overall have the skill to do it to be less dependent on others. I’ll have to learn that now, too! haha

You are most welcome here
