Carousel space beyond and below the images

Hello I have installed Unite theme but when I active the carousel doesn’t work correctly. I use diferents image size but the same always happens, a big space appear belyond and below the images. Also, the images appear in a position more down which corresponds within the carousel.

I also seem to have a similar problem. I recently installed the Unite theme and by default there is extra space above and below the carousel. In the attached picture you can see a light pink colour showing, I think to do with the caption and control areas. How do we get rid of these?
