Changing and adding new fonts

I m using the Shapely Free theme and would like to add another fonts type to the SiteTitle, is clear I need to edit the css for this.
I see the font-aweesome.css file uses 1 particular font type, and I assume once I edit this file, the new update will override the file and bring back to the initial style, and to overcome that I will need to create a child theme. Or is there another way to do that?

Hi Ricardo

Its better to make all your changes in the Child theme, if its small CSS changes you may also use Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS box for CSS snippets
