child theme of shapely cant override some of styles of parent theme

Hi there My problem is that i am using child theme of shapely but some of the styles of parent theme could not be overridden by child theme but the same styles can be override in child theme customizer but not in child theme style.css

please advise what is causing this problem ?

Hi, I was having the same issue with sparkling theme and could not find the cause. Then I read your question which pointed me in the right direction: “the styles can be overridden in child theme customizer”.

If you check functions.php you we see the note:

  • If you’re loading from a child theme use stylesheet_directory
  • instead of template_directory

I assume that also works for the shapely theme.
