I think I found a page template file that I can edit that won’t edit the default template. It’s called fullwidth and it’s in the sparking theme but I don’t know what I should edit it to to make it look how I want. If I don’t want my header and footer to show up for this template, do I just delete the getheader() and getfooter() functions from the code?

You can overwrite this file in the child theme and edit it. Find more information about the child theme and custom page templates on the following pages.
