Customized Menu and Layout Changes Not Saving

We have run into a problem because menu changes made in the Customizer are not being saving after publishing. e.g. Also the check box “Show Post Excerpts” on top pages and category pages does not remain saved after publishing.

To resolve this issue we have tried deactivating all plugins without any success. We have also updated the Sparkling theme to the latest version without any success. Deactivating The W3 Total Cache and Cloudflare plugins has also not helped.

I have updated the plugins but there is no change in the Cuctomizer “malfunction”. The top menu and excerpts options are not being saved. All posts are being displayed in full format instead of excerpt format. e.g. https://focusingonwildlife.com/test-platform6/wildfocus

In addition I have noticed that the sidebar has disappeared on all pages. e.g. https://focusingonwildlife.com/test-platform6/wildfocus/members-gallery/

Please advise.

Thanks

Hi there

Can you tell me what is a “xeno-canto” ? one of the plugins of this thing is triggering JS error in the customizer, i can say for sure this is a source of the problem and this is happening in your child theme, looks like you added some stuff in child theme

BTW, having 41 active plugins is for sure not good

Hi Noda

Xeno Canto is an audio file, which was embedded in a post on the top page. I have deleted the post, refreshed the cache and used the Customizer to set the top menu and the excerpts. This seems to have done the trick! I have noticed one other other issue, however:

The layout of all posts is being lost. e.g. https://focusingonwildlife.com/test-platform6/visitors-to-china-zoo-kill-kangaroo-that-wouldnt-jump/

All of the paragraphs in the visual and text windows have been lost. I cannot believe that we have to rework all posts and pages by adding <div> or <p> tags.

Please advise.

Thanks

Hello there,

I hope you are doing well today.

If those changes are removed then you would have to check the trash to see if the pages were somehow deleted but in this case there is not much you can do.

I came to the conclusion that a corrupted database may have been causing all of the problems.

After restoring the backup copy of the website all of the problems disappeared.

All p roblems have now been resolved.

Thanks for your support.
