encode email adres homepage

Dear support,

I noticed that the email in the contact section is not encoded. I use the email address encoder plugin (Email Address Encoder – WordPress plugin | WordPress.org Nederlands) for the pages, but the front page does not work.

Now does this plugin initially only work for the filters the_content and widget_text. The support tell that I can probably use the following function in my custom css:

add_filter( $tag, 'eae_encode_emails' );

I just have nu idea what $tag is in the case for the text in the team widget and most important for the emailadress in the contact part of the homepage. Or is it possible to encode the emails by default in an upcoming release?

Thanks in advance,
Arjan

Dear support,

I figured out how to encode the email section, by changing the main theme in illdy.
I modified the front-page-contact-us.php file, by using:
$email = eae_encode_emails(get_theme_mod( 'illdy_email' ));'
instead of
$email = get_theme_mod( 'illdy_email' );

This will change however when I update your theme. My remaining question is, how I can put this change inside my child theme.
Thanks in advance!

Arjan

Hello there,

I hope you are doing well today.

You would have to create the child theme then copy the front-page-contact-us.php file to the child theme and add the changes to that file in the child theme.

Here is a plugin that makes managing a child theme easier:

Unfortunately that did not work, I guess because it is in a sub folder?
Do I need to copy the whole folder in that case?

Hello there,

Yes, you need to copy the folder to the child theme so that it can be used.
