First off, thank you for this beautiful theme. However, I’m interested in customizing a few things. I have attached a screenshot of a mockup that I created, is this achievable?
You can try achieving this by using the child theme solution posted in the following topic.

A couple more things – how do I display the Instagram photos as shown in the original activello demo (as in the grid).
You can use any of the below solutions to achieve this.
If you get code from snapwidget.com then add that code in the text widget and add that text widget in the sidebar widget area.
And is it possible to show maybe 2 rows fewer of posts underneath the featured post slider?
Ia m not sure what you meant by this so could you please tell me a bit more in detail?
