How to set a maximum width for website?

Hello,
I’m having trouble figuring out how to set a maximum width for the website as a whole. I’ve searched the forum and there doesn’t seem to be a clear strategy for doing so. On very wide screen computers my header image (ovpes.org) does not render very nicely. Here’s a link to the CSS: http://ovpes.org/wp-content/themes/illdy/layout/css/main.css
Thanks.
Doug

Hello there,

I hope you are doing well today.

The width of the site is already at 100%. Could you please provide an image of how the header appears?

The header is appearing correctly, but what I would like to do is limit the header from spreading over the whole screen when the screen is wide. On my laptop, for example, the page renders nicely, but when I’m using my widescreen monitor, the header images spreads 100% of the screen so that it cuts off the bottom of the image and distorts it. Is there a way to limit the spread of the webpage, rather than doing 100%?

Hello there,

In this case, you can use the following CSS code to add a max width to the theme:

#header {
    max-width: 2000px;
}
