When I open my blog it used to show the first few lines and the first image on that post but it doesn’t anymore.
Without using the featured image option, is there no way to get the first image on of the post to display with the text?

You display it either adding image and text in the excerpt field of post as described here http://www.wpbeginner.com/glossary/excerpt/ or you can display whole post content by disabling the theme option “Show post excerpts?” as shown in the attached screenshot.
