Making Twitter and Skype icon show in header

The demo site has the Twitter and other social icons showing on the right side of the page, and I entered (at Appearance > Theme Options > Social) my Skype handle and my Twitter name. On the live site, there is only a small icon-sized image placeholder box for each, and not the actual icons.

I have tried, with Twitter to format the entry a few different ways:

None of these formats bring up the proper Twitter icon, and I wouldn’t even know where to begin with Skype.

Please let me know what I should do to get the icons to show properly.

Have you managed to display the icons on your site?
