I am using the Shapely theme, I have added a lot of custom CSS, and it occurred to me that I can do the same with the static front page, however, I cannot locate its php file. I have tried finding the root file through various ways, including uploading new php files as a command to locate it through FTP and it only directs me to the public_html folder, which includes SEVERAL folders and php files…
… which i went through one by one to avoid having to write here and figure it out on my own… to no avail.
But I’m stumped… My website is kwirb.com and clearly the content is there but i want to adjust it by adding extra buttons and other customization. When I go to my dashboard to that page, it is blank. so there is nothing for me to edit. When I use the Page Builder , it is blank. When I go through Appearance > Custom CSS > Visual Editor, there is no information pertinent to the root file or page. I have tried inspecting the body and going through all the file paths there to no avail. I was able to add a button to go back to the top of each page but that is not limited to the Front Page page template – which is why I wonder when I access the php file connected to that page template it is utterly devoid of all of my content.
I have also gone through about 25 pages of forum posts without any luck finding anything relevant to this, so I apologize if someone has already answered this beyond the 25 pages. I also used the search function and went through the first 15 pages but the topics seemed to become less relevant as I went through them.
Please advise! Thanks!
P.S. If I have posted this in the wrong section or missed an answer somewhere beyond page 25, a link would be helpful. Any help is appreciated, ty!
After some research I can see that I need to find the elements that make up the parts of the homepage – so essentially my question is how can I add a button to the front page areas where there are already 2 buttons. So I need a third button in these areas and have no idea how to place them there…
I see all the homepage elements are there, it seems you found what you need? You need to create a page and choose the homepage page template in the page attribute in the right side of the page, after that set that page as front page in Settings -> Readings -> Front page display as that page.
This was not my question, however, because of the delay in response I went through each and every folder in the Theme to find that I needed to go into the Shapely Companion widgets and access the root folder through CPanel and customize the feature section and the parallax section in the widgets folder and do some coding in there to add the additional buttons for the parallax section and the additional row of 3 fields in the features one – also i have nearly no coding experience but luckily I was able to discern a pattern in the coding provided, lol.
Thanks for responding though. It’s nice to to know that you guys get to these eventually.
Could you please share what is the file name.php? to update the home page. I found the header, but I struggling to find in which php I can find the content part…
No need to edit the PHP file for editing the content on the home page, for that please go to Appearance -> Customize -> Widgets -> Homepage. there you can edit all the home page contents.
