Need Help with Projects, Project Page & Child Theme

I’m trying to create a Projects page and Projects.

Both are live on my site right now, but the problem I’m having is that the widgets are showing up below the content and not in the main side bar on the right like in the blog page.

Here is the current Project page - http://www.fancifulthings.biz/projects/ I would the widgets to show on the right like they do here - Fanciful Things Knit & Crochet blog | Fanciful Things, LLC

Here is a link to a sample project - http://www.fancifulthings.biz/project/sample-project/ I would like the widgets to display like they do on a posts page like this - The Making of an Elephant | Fanciful Things, LLC

Additionally, I tried to install a child theme I get the following error message:
Broken Themes

The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.

Name Description
Unite Child The parent theme is missing. Please install the “Unite” parent theme. Delete

Any help would be appreciated.

Please - can anyone help me with this?

Especially with the child theme error.

Hi,

Can you please check on project page, if you have selected full width/ default template in the page attributes section?

Hi
I set the project page to use the default template.

Hi Nancy,

I think you should try installing the child theme. For installing the child theme, please follow these steps.

The important point here is ACTIVATING THE THEME

I’m confused. The Unite them is installed and is the active template.

After installing the child theme, do you see that in Appearance -> themes?

Please download the attached childtheme.zip and upload it on your site, when installed, activate it.

I was able to install and activate your child theme without an issue. Thank you for that.

I now seem to have a bigger mess on on my hands as my homepage displays the right side bar even though the page is set to full-width(no sidebar).

Got the home page issues fixed. But I’m still having trouble getting the Projects page to work the way I want it to.

Hi Nancy,
Sorry for the mess on homepage, I thought it would work.
Please deactivate the child theme and active the Unite theme again.
For displaying, the sidebar on its expected position on Projects page, i think you will need to add a css style{float: left} /class to the main content of the project page.

I was able to resolve the home page issues and that is now displaying perfectly - just the way I want it to.

I think I need a lot more help with the css stuff - I’ve never done a child theme.
