Needing help with a sub page

Greetings

I have a site for our American Legion Post and I have been asked to add a button on the home page to link to a page for the Sons of the American Legion

I have that all finished but I cannot change the background and I cannot change the font color. I am used to working with X theme but it seems like themes are using customization more than changing the pages in the admin area

Here is the main site post12.info.
The first page is fine, but click the red button on the first image and you will see what I am talking about

Also, the home page is full screen but the sons page is different. Not sure what I have done wrong

Thanks
