Parse error in customizer.php when activating theme

I’m trying to install the Sharply theme. I have followed the intall guide (Shapely Theme Documentation - Colorlib) but when i press “activate” theme the website and the wordpress-adminpage go white with the following error text:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /mounted-storage/home43b/sub003/sc32325-TMYS/www/ting/havfrue2/wp-content/themes/shapely/inc/customizer.php on line 22

I have used the newest wordpress version and have no aditional plugins og tools activated

Can anyone help. I’m a graphic artist with limited programming knowledge.

Hello there,

I hope you are doing well today.

Please go to Appearance > Themes > Add New and search for Shapely then install the theme from there.

Best Regards,

Tanks for quick reply
Just tried it… it didn’t fix the problem.

Hello there,

You were still unable to install the theme?

Please delete the current Shapely theme and try it again.

Best Regards,

The theme installs but when i press the activate button the screen turns white with the error message… the whole wordpress admin site is lthe unaccessible so I have to delete the shapely theme folder using my ftp admin.
I have done this many times now.

Hi there

Looks like checking several things in the backend is necessary, please send me your access credentials along with your website URL and I will investigate this case. Don’t forget to mark your reply as private! Thanks!

Colorlib Support Team

Hmm… I must admit i’m not comfortable with giving out my backend access credential. Think I will try to get help from a programming friend first.

I’ll contact you if we dont find the solution… or if we find it I’ll let you know what we found out.

Okay
let me know if anything is necessary from us

Found the problem…

I use as my webhost. The default Servage php settings was the problem. I simply had to change from PHP v. 5.2 to PHP v. 5.4
