Place Social Media Icons in Footer

Hello! I have the Unite theme and currently do not have any social media icons on my site. I am wondering if I am missing them somewhere in the settings? I went to Appearance-Menus and then created a social menu as suggested in another thread, but they are not showing up on my site. I’m wondering if there is a setting I am missing somewhere.

Also, is there a way to place the social media icons in the footer section of the site? Thank you so much for your help.

I have tested it on my test site and it’s working fine for me using latest version of Unite theme.

To create social icons follow the below steps :

  1. Create a menu like any other menu in the admin area of your site under Appearance -> Menus .
  2. Use the correct urls in the menu items, so for twitter it must be twitter.com for facebook it must be facebook.com. Otherwise URLs won’t get recognized and you will get squares without icons.
  3. Set theme location for this menu as “Social Menu”
Also, is there a way to place the social media icons in the footer section of the site? Thank you so much for your help.

Currently the theme doesn’t provide this functionality. You have to develop custom code in the Unite child theme by overwriting footer.php file to achieve this.

Thank you so much for your help Movin. I still cannot get the icons to appear. I did try this same method prior to posting and tried it a second time, but am still not able to get it to work.

Could you please share me the screenshot of Social icons that you created and share your site URL where it is not displaying so that i can troubleshoot it?
