Problem with installing shapely

I decided to give a go to Shapely theme, but it does not seem to work on a clean up-to-date install of WordPress. Have never had such issues with WP themes, so I’m really confused.

Any ideas? This is the error I see when I preview my site with shapely theme. If I activate the theme, it crashes my whole WP instance, and displays the same error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[’ in /home/user/public_html/website/wp/wp-content/themes/shapely/inc/widgets/widget-home-clients.php on line 65

Sorry to hear of the problem you are having.

This error occurs on older version of PHP so either update your PHP version to latest one or use the solution posted in the following reply to resolve it.
