Hi!

I tried to achieve to display only 8 portfolio items on my home page but all of the items on the portfolio page.
Therefore I installed the custom plugin from this thread:

[https://colorlibsupport.com/t/limit-number-of-portfolio-items-on-home-page/](https://colorlibsupport.com/t/limit-number-of-portfolio-items-on-home-page/)

this worked fine for the home page. Only 8 are shown.

But now my portfolio page is pretty disconfigured with lots of errors. The last two items show complete with their entry content instead of featured images part of the masonry…

So then I read a litle more and I found out that there is a new and a old version of the portfolio widget?? (the new one with “custom” in it¨s name.
How do I achieve to have the new plugin? I think I have the old one, although I see this in te code of the custom plugin:

```auto
function custom_shapely_widgets_init(){
    unregister_widget( 'shapely_home_portfolio' );
    register_widget( 'custom_shapely_home_portfolio' );
```

well…
this is my web, I hope you can help me.

Thanks!

Hello there,

I hope you are doing well today.

The newer version of he theme would also have the updated portfolio widget. So, in this case you can create a child theme and backup your WordPress theme settings then install the new version of the theme.

You can use the following plugins to create a child theme to contain your changes and backup your WordPress theme options:

> **[Child Theme Configurator](https://wordpress.org/plugins/child-theme-configurator/)**
>
> When using the Customizer is not enough - Create a child theme from your installed themes and customize styles, templates, functions and more.

> **[UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/)**
>
> Backup, restore or migrate your WordPress website to another host or domain. Schedule backups or run manually. Migrate in minutes.

Hi!

Thanks for the help. But I don’t get any Message in my themes that there is a Update for the theme. I Installed it Like 2 months ago.
Also i’m a little afraid to lose all the changed and Go through everything again. Have you Seen my Portfolio Page and What happens to it? Ich trink the Problem is the custom Plugin i downloaded from the other thread to show only 8 portfolio ítems on the Home Page. Since then there’s the Problem. But I would Like to keep this Plugin and Make changes there (cause there wont be any Update for this).
So maybe you can help me with the correct visualisation on portfolio Page with the current versions oficina everything?

Thanks a lot!!
Anna

Hi,

I just deactivated the custom plugin I thought was the problem.
Nothing changed. Still a bad visualisation problem on the portfolio page. I really don’t know whats going on there and it’s bothering me ☹

[http://www.annaschimpf.com/es/portfolio/](http://www.annaschimpf.com/es/portfolio/)

Why are the last two displaying like this?
They are not inside the masonry but inside some \<span class=“infinite-loader”\>. Inside the whole articles load. Where does that come from?

Please help 🙂

Thanks!!!

Hey again,
Thanks for keeping in touch with us.

If you have already removed the custom plugin and the code from your functions.php and you’re not seeing the change then you may have a caching issue.

Do you have any caching on your site? If you do, then I’m going to ask that you clear the cache in your WordPress installation. You may also try to get your cache cleared from your server side.

I hope this helps 🙂

Hi!

Thanks for the answer.
I don’t think its a caching issue because the widget changes instantly (more than 8 ítems show). Also its the same in all devices. Even if they hadnt opened the Page ever.
Why would the Last Posts be in that weird Span and Not in masonry?

Thanks!

where is the php that builds the automatic portfolio page?
I can only find the php that builds the widget, which works perfectly fine.

Thanks

Ok, as the automatically created portfolio page is a little less transparent for me becaus I don´t know where to make changes or anything I have resolved the topic in a different way.
Now it´s exactly as I wanted it.

thanks anyway 🙂
