I want to show a sidebar in woocommerce pages. There is get_sidebar(‘shop’) in archive.php of woo template page but no widget area showing in widgets in appearance…
do i have to register a widget area in my theme ?

Please make sure to set correct layout for woocommerce products pages as shown in the attached screenshot.
You can also register and display new sidebar as described on the following pages.
