The page is set as the standard blog page, e.g. it should show all recent posts.
It seems like the problem here is, that the sidebar is outside the “row” class, however I have no idea which php file to edit, in order to fix this.

These are your own custom implementations that breaks theme functionality.
Yes, your sidebar is outside .row but it is not how it is on default theme.
Also you are using Child Theme completely wrong. You have just renamed main sparkling theme to sparkling-child which doesn’t do anything at all. it will break all your settings added in Theme Options once update is out for this theme.
