I want to remove the widget menu that at the current moment only holds the social media icons and move them to the menu bar at the top. Is there an easy way to do this?
Just remove the social icons widget from the sidebar and to move them to the menu bar at the top try using the solution shared in the following topic.

Also after messing around with some of the custom CSS seems I now have “//” in the widget area for some reason that I can’t get rid of.
Have you made any changes in the theme files therefore it is displaying?
To get rid of it try reinstalling fresh unedited version of Activello theme on your site.
Additionally the media gallery I have seems to be backwards. When you click on the first picture you only have a “previous” button. Shouldn’t it be “next”? I may opt for a slider plugin instead but I am trying to avoid plugins at all costs.One last thing is getting rid of the category bar on the posts page. like on this page http://flyingdiscdogsofaustin.com/2016/07/04/meetup-info/
