Top slider and box padding

Hello,

It has most likely been asked hundreds of times before… but how do you remove the top slider? i found some custom css from another post which removes the slider but leaves a big gap at the top?

Also where can i edit the padding on the front page? (See attached screenshot)
I’ve looked around but unable to find where this is stored?
