Unique category for featured slider image or set 1 slide

Hi Movin,

I want to keep my featured image on my home page as a static image and not scroll through to any other “posts” that are in the same category.

I have set ‘Number of slide items’ to 1, but I want my very first post of my Business News category to be displayed, not the most recent.

I know I can create a completely separate category can call it like “front page” and link just that one post but then when my blog page is viewed and all the categories are displayed it would look silly with a category in the right sidebar called “front page”. Unless there is a way I can somehow hide the category front page from displaying in the categories section on my sidebar but still show all the other categories.

How do you suggest I can achieve this?

Hi @joel,

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

I know I can create a completely separate category can call it like “front page” and link just that one post but then when my blog page is viewed and all the categories are displayed it would look silly with a category in the right sidebar called “front page”. Yes we can achieve this way by hiding that front page category from sidebar.

Could you please share me your site URL where it’s displaying so that i can help you to achieve it?

Kind Regards,
Movin

Hi @Movin

I’d like to hide the category called ‘Uncategorised’ from any page/post that shows Categories in the sidebar.

I’ve sent you a private reply with the site address.

Thank you :slight_smile:

You can try hiding that category by adding the following CSS code in the Custom CSS option of your theme on the below path.

Admin Area -> Appearance -> Customize -> Dazzling Options -> Other -> Custom CSS

.widget .cat-item-1 {
    display: none;
}

Perfect!

@Movin - Your knowledge and quality of support is first class.

Thank you for all the help you provide and the contribution you make to this world.

@Movin I’d like to chat with you about setting up a very basic website that has two images and a contact form on one page.

It’s not in relation to the Dazzling theme, so I wan’t sure where to post this as the site is not using any themes at the moment and is in ‘maintenance’ mode which is also why I’m also making this a private reply.

Can you suggest a theme for me to use -

All I want on the site is one page with a full-width image
a smaller centered image overlaying the full-width one which when scrolling down is has a parallax effect. Under that will be a contact form and that is all

The site is http://www.pottstech.com.au/

As you can see there is the image (logo) I want to use and the coffee cup image I want as the full width image.

What theme or how do you suggest I can achieve this?

Thank you friend.

You are most welcome here :slight_smile:

If you want to ask anything here which is not related to colorlib themes then you can ask it in the following Other forum.

Hi @movin - it is related to colorlib themes because I would like to use a colorlib theme.

I’m asking which colorlib theme you suggest I use to achieve what I’m asking. It’s a fresh wordpress installation.

Yes but as you are not asking question to any particular colorlib theme so please post it in following forum and not this Dazzling theme forum which is only for Dazzling theme related questions.

Sorry.

I have re-posted in the correct forum “Other” as you have suggested.

Kind regards. :slight_smile:

Ok then no need to reply here. We will reply you there ASAP.
