Widgets can not be edited on home page

I wanted to make a quick adjustment to my boss’ website but when I tried to edit a widget, the text would be blank and then eventually disappear. Any information on this would be great. Here’s a visual for a better example. Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

This seems to be a SiteOrigin widget so please go to Appearance > Widgets and make the changes to the widget there.

The Site Origin plugin widget may not have the ability to be edited in the customizer, it can be hard to tell why without more tests though.
