1.2.17 killed my website

After the update to 1.2.17 of Shapely theme on my website, all pages using the Builder template were completely empty in content area between header and footer. There was only a text that this is a side widget and widgets should be added. If the widget configuration for the page was opened, a message said that there were two more widget areas the theme does not use and only the footer area was configurable.
When opening dev mode of browser, a continuously reoccuring message appeared that there are problems with the theme, containing an 503 error and a message about wrong JSON.
How can I get it to work again?
Currently I switched to standard template for all pages, which made them appear again, but this can only be a workaround as the design is broken now.

Issue confirmed, pls fix it, all builder pages are down!

Rollback to version 1.2.15 solved the problem.

@martin8 Can I do the rollback via wordpress admin? Or do I need access to the file system?

Shapely is my favorite theme of all time. But the time has come to give it up. I fully understand the decision of the designer of the theme to move on from the theme, but given it’s lack of updating, we must all consider alternatives.

RIP Shapely.

I have the same issue on 2 sites, can we get it back easily? How do we do a roll back to a previous version? Thanks!

I’m looking into fixing this.
Please don’t update to 1.2.18 if you rolled back to 1.2.15, as the latest version fixes demo content import, but not this particular issue. I’ll be investigating your problem shortly.

Any more details, like error logs, error notices, etc, would be very helpful in debugging.

An update is out to fix all the issues. Make sure to update both the Shapely theme and the companion plugin in order to see all the fixes.

Please let me know if there is anything else that needs fixing.

Always make sure to have a backup in place for your website before updating any themes and plugins. Personally I recommend a automated daily update. It is better to be safe than sorry.

You are wrong on that one. Shapely lives on. :rocket:

Then fix it so that the widgets work with the newest versions of WordPress in the places where they’re suppose to work (e.g., the Front Page), starting with 6.7 and beyond.

Thanks, @aigars-silkalns - it works again with 1.2.19!
