Activation of Sparkling theme version 2.3.2 has error & no customizer

Hello,
When I activate the Sparkling theme version 2.3.2, their is

  1. No theme option. (image attached)
  2. customer gives error
  3. the live preview doesn’t work either (gives same error).

The error given is: Fatal error: Call to undefined method WP_Customize_Manager::add_panel() in /home/sbweb/public_html/testFPCI/wp-content/themes/sparkling/inc/customizer.php on line 26

I deactivated all plugins and still none of the above works and there is still an error.
Please advise?

Note: When I view site live, the wordpress bar at the top for editing is also gone.(see image, no dark WP bar at top and I’m logged in)

FYI: Letting you know this also, in case related some how… my other issue with version 2.3.2 is: https://colorlibsupport.com/t/new-activation-of-2-3-2-ignores-the-old-setup-and-options-already-set/

Hi @karolsnewday,

I hope you are well today and thank you for your questions.

1. No theme option. (image attached)

All theme options are now moved to WordPress customizer that you can find in the admin area under Appearance >> Customize. All settings are still there but now you can tweak everything on a live preview. This change is made due to wordpress.org recommendation.

2. customer gives error 3. the live preview doesn’t work either (gives same error).

I have tested it on my test site and it’s working fine for me using latest version Sparkling theme.

Is the customizer working fine on your site using default WordPress theme like Twenty Sixteen?

Could you please tell me which version of WordPress you are using?

Because add_panel function which is called undefined in your shared error message is declared in the WordPress 4.0.0 so please make sure you are using latest version of WordPress.

It seems the common unexpected error that occurs due to outdated version of WordPress. You can try resolving this error as described on the following pages.

Hi,
The new version results in having to reformat pages… see images. Top image on page resized it self, the events calendar on the page is now squeezed to the far left instead of big and centered. (see images).

And the most important, the logo is gone. So it would need to be reset up to.
Shouldn’t the upgrade to the new version be smoother than this… .than having to reset up the theme?

And yes, the wordpress update took care of the error. it is on 4.6.1

Glad the WordPress update took care of the error.

Regarding latest version theme options please reply on your following existing topic where we are already discussing this.
