When upgrading to the Sparkling 2 is giving error when I add a widget in the sidebar on the static pages. The content and the sidebar would shrink. When there was no widget in sidebar the error does not occur.

Sorry to hear of the problem you are having.
It’s working fine on my site using latest version 2.0.1 of Sparkling theme.
I visited your site and found you are using older version 1.9.3 of Sparkling theme so could you please try using latest version of it?
Also it seems you are using child theme of Sparkling theme so please try using Sparkling theme instead of its child theme to confirm it’s not the child theme issue.
