Featured image off homepage not showing on first load

So the other time I changed the colors on a website, and after that, we noticed the featured image was not showing on the homepage a refresh would fix this. I have no idea why this is happening and it seems related to Chrome.

Any ideas?

eropafondersteuning.nl on Chrome on OSX it doesn’t show the image, but after a refresh it does.
