Featured image size for slider using Sparkling theme

Hi, first I have to thank you for providing such an awesome theme for free. I’ve tried many “premium” themes that weren’t half as cool as yours, so thank you!

My questions are: what size should my featured images be for the slider to look its best? Is it ok to set a featured image that’s different from the one in the post?
