How to post like sticky posts in dazzling demo

Hi,
I’m new to WP and themes, how do I make a ‘sticky’ post display like the ones in the demo of the dazzling theme?

They have a large image at the top, above the text and when they display as sticky posts the image shows as a thumbnail, part of the text and a read more link.

I can get the text showing fine and the read more, but not the image, my image only shows when the read more link is clicked.

So far I have just installed the theme on a clean install of WP on a ‘spare’ domain for evaluation.

You can display the image like that by setting featured image in the posts as described on the following page.
