How to Separate Widget in Sidebar

Is it possible to separate the widgets in the sidebar like in the picture I attached? There’s a whole white backdrop/background on the widgets I’m thinking of cutting them and separating them so some of my background is showing. Is there a custom code that I could use to that effect?

Thanks a bunch!

Hi @bestgrillguy,

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

You can try achieving this by adding the following CSS code in the Custom CSS option of the latest version of Sparkling theme on the below path.

Admin Area -> Appearance -> Customize -> Sparkling Options -> Other -> Custom CSS

#secondary .well {
    background-color: transparent;
    border: 0;
    box-shadow: none;
    padding: 0;

#secondary .widget {
    background-color: #fff;
    padding: 20px;
    margin-bottom: 30px;

Best Regards,

Hey @Movin!

You’re the best, man! It’s working perfectly. Can you also help me add a background color (red) just for the title widget? I attached a sample. I edited the photo so it has 2 categories widget but currently on my grill site still doesn’t have that background box for the title.

And just one last thing, is there a way to increase the content width just a bit more without making the sidebar smaller and still have equal margin on both sides? When I added the code for separating the widgets, my content became smaller again like it used to.

Thanks for giving your time here, man. You’re awesome!

You can use the below CSS code to achieve this.

#secondary .widget > h3 {
    background: #DD3333;
    color: #fff;
    padding: 8px;

Got it! Thanks again, it’s working great!
