How To Use Testimonials Section For Illdy WordPress Theme

How do I create/update the testimonials section? I like the idea of this section but I don’t understand how we would add posts to show up here (and also remove the default ones). I tried creating a post with category of testimonial but that did nothing.

Then go into Settings -> writing and enable ‘Testimonials’. You’ll now be able to add Testimonials as a custom content type in the usual way under Posts.

I have the same problem. Why is there no documentation about these important features?

And it mentions Testimonials in the customization section and asks how many posts should display but nothing about where they come from.

However, you can manually edit this section via front-page-testimonials.php which is in /wp-content/themes/illdy.1.0.6/illdy/sections/front-page-testimonials.php.

So that might work but Jetpack does not work on LocalHost and I’m not ready to put this on a web server at the moment - meaning, I’ll just continue to edit the file directly.

That’s the only way this works, by installing JetPack for testimonials. It’s not how we’d want it, but WordPress.org staff forced us to this solution.

I installed the jetpack plugin and when I add in a testimonial it shows up on a separate blog page instead in the front page. How do I fix this? I enabled custom testimonials in settings.

I’m having trouble understanding the exact issue you are encountering.
Can you please include website links and/or screenshots, as well?

When I added the testimonial it doesn’t show up on the home page in the testimonials section. The testimonial shows up on a separate page.

I updated the theme and right after the update it appeared in the right spot with some extra code text. Once I added the picture it went back to its own page.

This is quite a strange behaviour.

The testimonial dedicated page should be in place, but I cannot fully understand why it does not appear in the homepage section, as supposed.

I need furter investigation and I’ll get back to you.

hi guys,

I’m sure my question is stupid, but it makes me crazy… =)

I use the testimonials and it works fine, but I can’t formate the text, something like <bold> or <br>. Does anybody know why?

Hello,

As far as my knowledge goes, you might not be able to use any format into the testimonial text as it removes any HTML format for display sakes.

Until further notice, there’s not much I can do about it, sorry that I cannot be of more help.

Hi! It seems that the settings have changed. Now it is possible to add testimonials just through the widget section. But I have another question: how do I make testimonials look like slider, like in your tutorial video and demo? At my site they all just go down in an endless list, vertically, does not matter how much I add — no dots, no horizontal scroll. How do I enable that? Thank you!
