Missing photos in post

Hi, I just recently updated my Sparkling theme to the latest version. On the front page, my posts won’t display photos but when you click ‘Read More’, they appear in the post. I’m just wondering how to make them visible because I know they’re supposed to be there, like before I updated my theme.

Would be really grateful for your help! Here is my site: http://asshulz.com

Also…is it possible to download an older version of the Sparkling theme? I think I’m more comfortable with it, but I don’t know where to get the zip.

Hi @asshulz,

I hope you are well today and thank you for your questions.

Hi, I just recently updated my Sparkling theme to the latest version. On the front page, my posts won’t display photos but when you click ‘Read More’, they appear in the post. I’m just wondering how to make them visible because I know they’re supposed to be there, like before I updated my theme.

The images added in the post content are displayed on the single post page but on the post listings page like on the front page only the features image set for the post is displayed so please make sure you have set the features image for the posts as described on the following page.

You can download an older version of the Sparkling theme from the following pages.

Thank you for response. I would like to know if there is some way for me to tweak the latest version of Sparkling to allow my photos to show without using the featured images option, just like the older version of Sparkling. Thanks.

@asshulz > I bet you have post excerpts enabled

Just go to Appearance – Customize – Content Options and uncheck Show post excerpts? - posts on news listing page will be rendered full, with inages and other stuff.

Best!

Hi @szponix,

Thanks for helping out here.

Your help is really appreciated

Cheers,
Movin

Hi @asshulz,

You can display the images on the posts listings page either by displaying the whole post content there as described by @szponix and as shown in the attached screenshot.

Or alternatively you can use any of the following plugins to automatically set featured images for the posts by getting it from the post content.

Or you can display the first image of the post content on the posts listings page by using the following custom code in the theme template file.

Best Regards,
Movin
