When I view the preview of my blog in wordpress it looks like the first attached image.
However, when I view my blog on my phone it looks like the second attached image (with no images at all)
Any ideas?

It seems you are using Jetpack plugin on your site so please make sure you are not using its Mobile Theme functionality Mobile Theme which may be causing this issue.
