No Lightbox showing up

Hello Colorlib team

I’ve found a lot of threads on this, but not on my particular problem, so to not search for hours, I just wanted to post the question here.

I have a page where I’m implementing a gallery with NextGen Gallery, and I have set the pictures to open in lightbox when clicked. However when you click them, they are showing up with the media-URL. I have tried a lot of different stuff, but don’t seem to get it right.

There page I’m talking about is this: http://premiumbands.de/portfolio/studna

Since the site is about bands and the portfolio will grow large in number, the issue is not just about this one page. I want to use the whole design for every portfolio item. If there’s any trouble with the plugin, could you recommend a similar one which is able to create nearly the same design and also open pictures in the lightbox as intended?

Thanks in advance for your support
Dom

Hi Dom,

You mean when you open an image in the lightbox it didn’t display any caption under it? In that case, I suggest you contact the nextgen gallery support or double check the configuration on the plugin settings.

You can try some other plugins like this too: Easy FancyBox – WordPress plugin | WordPress.org

Hey Iaranz,

no it’s not about the caption or anything. There is no lightbox showing up at all when I click on a picture. Instead, the picture shows as a seperate page via the media URL.

I have attached 2 pictures. The first one is the Gallery as I view it within the page. The second one appears when I click a picture. No lightbox, just the media path…

But I want the lightbox showing up.

Hi,

Can you try to disable all the plugins except the companion & jetpack plugin and see that fixes the issue? I tried to install the NextGen gallery plugin in my shapely installation, all goes smooth and the lightbox shown as expected. So, I think some other plugins cause the issue. Also, make sure all the plugins and themes are up-to-date.

I’m afraid I disabled ALL plugins except Jetpack, but still it didn’t work out well. I will try the alternative plugin which you recommended me. Seems that there are more people who have trouble with the NextGen Gallery in the Shapely theme. I can’t make out the mistake, tried a lot and cannot find one setting where lightboxes are switched off.

Alright, I have new insights. Maybe this helps anyone to solve the issue with me

I put a gallery as a test on the front page, and everything works fine with the lightbox. So there must be some error between the portfolio section and the gallery-lightbox-feature (as it’s appearing in the portfolio pages).

It might be that there is some custom CSS conflicting as I used a lot to customize the design of the website. My idea is now - and I need your help here - to force the lightbox-opening using a “!important” code. Only problem is I don’t know how to address the gallery item as it only appears as a shortcode including all the elements. Here is a sample:

[ngg_images source=“galleries” container_ids=“4” display_type=“photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails” override_thumbnail_settings=“1” thumbnail_width=“200” thumbnail_height=“200” thumbnail_crop=“1” images_per_page=“9” number_of_columns=“3” ajax_pagination=“0” show_all_in_lightbox=“0” use_imagebrowser_effect=“0” show_slideshow_link=“0” slideshow_link_text="[Zeige eine Slideshow];" order_by=“sortorder” order_direction=“ASC” returns=“included” maximum_entity_count=“500”]

I already tried to exchange all the “0” for “1”, but nothing changed in the lightbox issue there. So how can I CSS-force that special thing? Is it possible to tell that easy for one of you? Would help me a lot, really!

Thanks in advance for your time and support!

Hi,

I doubt it is some plugin compatibility issue, can you try disable all the plugins except Jetpack and NextGEN gallery plugin and turn off the cache, and see that fixes the issue?
