Slider only shows up in the default language (Spanish) and not in the other two

Hello everyone,

I am creating a website in localhost in three different languages (Spanish, English and German) using Travelify theme with the plug-in WPML for the languages.

The default language is Spanish and the slider works perfectly in the home page (6 different images). The problem is when I choose any other language, the slider doesn’t show up in the home pages (not even anywhere else). So it only works with the home page of the default language.

What can I do in order to get the slider in all of the other languages?

I really do not know if I have to “change” something in Travelify theme or in WPML plug in.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi @canario74,

Sorry to hear of the problem you are having.

Could you please share your site URL so that i can troubleshoot the issue?

Kind Regards,
Movin

Hello movin,

thank you very much for your message. The URL is www.linosbike.com

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards.

Hi @canario74,

I checked the site and found this is happening because when you change the lanuage then the URL changes like this http://yoursite.com/de/ which seems for slider another page and not home page therefore the slider doesn’t display there.

Could you please try changing it as in your WPML plugin settings to language parameter added to the URL as described on the following page?

Movin

Hello Movin,

thank you very much for your answer. Despite WMPL gives you three different options, I tried all of them and it still doesn’t work. As you said, I noticed that the default language (Spanish) is in www.linosbike.com, the English is in www.linosbike.com/en/ and the German in www.linosbike.com/de/. The question is: should I create a new folder www.linosbike.com/es and move all the files from www.linosbike.com to www.linosbike.com/es so every language is in their own folder??? Will it work??

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards.

Hi @canario74,

To make it work could you please try using the attached small plugin?

Hello Movin,

thank you very much for your effort, but I regret to inform you that it does not work either. It has absolutely no effect on the site :frowning:

Can you, please, tell me if you know any site using Travelify Theme in different languages where the slider works with all of the different languages?? I would like to know if I am doing something wrong or if the theme cannot accept sliders except for just one language and not the other ones.

I have noticed the following:

  • The slider only works with the Spanish language, which is the selected default language in WPML options
  • If I change the selected default language in WPML to English (for example) then I get the default site www.linosbike.com in English (which is normal). But if, in the site (not WPML), I change the language to Spanish then it changes to www.linosbike.com/es and the slider does not show up. As a matter of fact, it does not show up in any other language if the selected default language in WPML is other different than the Spanish one.

Thank you very much on advance.

Best regards.

Hi @canario74,

I don’t have the premium paid WPML plugin so i can’t test it on my test site.

We have to find out the solution on this issue by performing some tests.

Please try using the attached three plugins and let me know which one works for you if any. Please use one plugin at a time on your site.

The last attached plugin will display the message like following in the footer of your site so please let me know what it displays for each selected language.

Your page URL is http://yoursite.com/de/

Movin

Hello Movin,

Thank you very much for the plugins but I regret to inform you that they don’t work, sorry! I tried all of them one at a time, but nothing happens.

I don’t have the paid WPML plugin either because I am using the free version. Could it be the reason why it doesn’t work?

Please find attached screenshots of the menu configuration. The Spanish one is complete and OK, but the German and English ones say “Traducción de: --no hay–” which means “Translation of: --none–”. Does it have anything to do?

Thank you very much on advance.

Best regards.

Hi @canario74,

Sorry to hear it does’t work for you.

I don’t have the paid WPML plugin either because I am using the free version. Could it be the reason why it doesn’t work?

From where have you downloaded the free version of that plugin?

Also you have not answered my following main question that i have asked previously.

The last attached plugin will display the message like following in the footer of your site so please let me know what it displays for each selected language.

Your page URL is http://yoursite.com/de/

Please advise.

Movin

Hi Movin,

I have the WPML Multilingual CMS plugin, version 2.0.4.1 by OnTheGoSystems. I am creating this site for a friend of mine and the WPML plugin was already installed by someone else before when I started to work on the website (I thought it was a free version, but wasn’t sure).

These are the displayed messages:

SPANISH: Your page URL is http://linosbike.com/

ENGLISH: Your page URL is http://linosbike.com/en/

GERMAN: Your page URL is http://linosbike.com/de/

Thank you very much.

Best regards.
