Slider text featured image not scaled on Sparkling mobile view

Hello–
I love this theme, and it’s looking good everywhere except on mobile devices. Searching for posted solutions, I read that the Sparkling default is for the mobile version not to show text on the slider photos, but mine always has. But unfortunately, both the pictures and text were cut off.
So I first tried changing the CSS to at least make the text visible based on this prior solution for cut-off text:

It still isn’t working for me.

At this point, I’d rather remove the featured images from the mobile view altogether if I can’t show the entire picture (with or without the text). Thank you so much for your help.

Hi, again:
After playing with the theme awhile, I decided to eliminate the text from the slider. That took care of the layout on all of the formats I tested.
