Which is the latest version of Shapely?

Hello,

Thanks for the nice theme, we love it a lot.

But I have doubt on which is the latest version of Shapely theme. I originally download the theme here, which is version 1.0.5:
https://colorlib.com/wp/themes/shapely/

Then I read some of the discussion in this support forum, and point us to download here. Seems the latest version is 1.7.1. Is it not yet released?

Which version should I use?

Thanks.

Hi @jaks,

The version on github is not yet published on wordpress.

You could use it but is not yet 100% suitable to use. We recommend using the version 1.05 and soon we will update the theme and you could update it from your dashboard.

thanks,

Cristian

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. May I ask when the new release (e.g. version 1.7) is expected to be available?

Seems the new version have some improved and fixed feature, where can we see the enhancement list? Or we can only see the list from the file “changelog.txt” ?

Many thanks for the works on the theme!

Hi @jaks,

After seeing your post we figure that maybe you could give us a hand in testing the new theme. What do you think?

See this post:

It could help us in publish more faster the theme and in this way you could see the theme new improvements live

Thanks,

Cristian

Hello,

Ok, I just tried to install the beta version, but I’m not good at it, so wonder I mess something up…

Originally I have Shapely v1.0.5 installed, together with all widgets and demo data of that version. Then I set all demo posts and pages as “private” (to avoid outsiders seeing them due to my wrong setup).

Just then, I removed the theme Shapely v1.0.5, but hasn’t removed any demo data or previous widgets. Then I installed the beta version theme and companion plugin, and clicked the button to install demo data. Now I wonder old demo posts and widgets are there, so it may not have completely the new version.

Please see attached image too. There’s a blank white gap between two sections of my homepage, I wonder I mess some old widget with the new theme so it display like that…

Would you mind to login my site to help setting up my things right (with new demo data), before I can setup my things and test the beta theme? Thanks.

Continue with the last message, below is login info to my site. I’ve turned on “Maintenance mode” to ensure outsiders won’t see my website in development. But once you login, you can see the actual website right now. Thanks so much.

Hi @jaks,

Please make a clean install of the new theme and post your bugs on github directly.

Thanks,

Cristian

Hello,

Thanks, I’ll make the clean install. Can you also tell me, if I have the old Shapely Theme version and Demo data, what is the safe step for me to change to Beta version and its demo data, to avoid messing things up?

Thanks.

hi @jaks,

A child theme is the best way to use a wordpress theme.

Thanks,

Cristian

Hello,

I meant the demo data, not the theme itself. Say if I have got previous demo data from here and imported:
https://colorlib.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/shapely-demo-content.zip

What will be the best way to reset the data (that I may have messed up), and import again?

Thanks.

I see that the download link https://colorlib.com/wp/themes/shapely/ for Shapely contains version 1.1.0, but the latest version is 1.2.4 I see from the changelogs. Is there a problem with the Colorlib download link for the latest version or is the readme and changlog just incorrect?

Hi

@kylures make sure you are using the latest version of the theme, download link needs to be updated, you can also download the theme from the official WordPress repository

Regards

Thanks, I did use the Wordpress repository. Just wanted to ensure you were informed in case this affected other users,

Thank you and you are welcome
