This happened after wp automatically updated to version 4.2.2–es_ES.

tried with other themes and widgets are visible there, so i guess it must be related to sparkling and wp update somehow?

This problem is not related to WordPRess update but your attempt to customize copyright information or doing other changes around footer code. It have now resulted in error and there are multiple things that no longer works and this is one of these. The same things applies to slider.
Make sure to delete broken version of this theme and install a brand new one.
If this doesn’t help please notify me again and I will look what errors will be there after reinstall.
