I have recently setup and modified the Glint template and customized it for my site per the terms of the premium license i own and i am now in the final stages trying to setup the contact form but no matter what i try I fail to configure it properly.
I have the site running on a Windows Server 2016 which i myself own and run. The site is loaded on IIS 10 with PHP 5.3.28. I have the mail extensions enabled within PHP on the server. The server currently has its firewall disabled for setup and testing of this site. I also have a business grade internet connection with no restrictions, allowing me to host any service on any port with nothing being blocked by my provider. The server is configured with an external IP address at the moment to remove my network firewalls from the equation or any network related issue. However I still receive the same “Something went wrong. Please try again.” error when trying and sending a message from the contact form.
This is where my issue presents it self. What am i missing here? Do i need to have a SMTP relay installed on my server? Do i need to configure the php.ini file and change the mail function settings and set the SMTP server address and port?
My email provider is Office 365 which does support IMAP and POP and currently the only change i have made to the SendEmail.php page is the Siteownersemail variable. All other settings are set to defaults.
This is really bugging me and i’m hoping someone can help me get this sorted out asap as i need to get this site launched early this week.
So i will say thank you in advance for your time and effort here!
Dear @smikus usually when these things happen we are redirecting customers to hosting support, the message means that data was not transmitted,
things i would check
increase php version
if you have chance please try apache server
@Noda As i said in my original post, I own this server and it is installed in my server rack at my house as you can see in the picture below. So, there is no hosting support to contact other than myself since i’m the host! ?
When you say “Is not being transmitted”, I assume you mean the server hosting the site isn’t transmitting the email. Not the client computer to the host server, correct?
Also, which PHP version do you recommend? As i said i currently have 5.3.28 installed but would you suggest the most recent stable release of PHP 7.X? I ask because i must have 5.3.28 installed for another site so i will need to have two versions installed which isn’t a problem I just need to know the exact version i should be using.
Yes I understand that you have it in the home (Which is by the way cool ) but you see what happen when we need hosting support this is a very simple script, data is transmitted by _POST method and somehow it’s not processed by the server or server configuration, that’s why im asking to test it on the Apache server, you can even use 000webhost just for testing purposes to compare them,
Php version 5.3 is outdated, try versions above 5.6
p.s. im sure you changed email address in the template
Haha yes sometimes support would be nice but at the same time hosting costs money. Which is the exact reason I have that rack because i myself host.?
When you say 000webhost what do you mean? Is that a hosting service or an Apache feature? I’ve never heard of that before.
And yes of course I have changed the siteownerspassword in the sendemail.php file. But a good suggestion. Also, one of the sites i host requires that particular PHP version for that site which is why that is my current version. BUt as i said i can run them side by side, so i will download a newer version.
One last question, do i need to have an SMTP server or SMTP relay installed on the hosting server?
I don’t know much in Glint Contact Form Issue
but I use ninja contact form plugin for making any contact form on my wordpress site,
it works on every single theme
have a look how to do it, just go to this link: https://loudmeout.com/how-to-create-a-contact-form-on-wordpress/
I wish to have my own hosting as well
Well, 000webhost is very popular and old free web hosting, you can see it here (just use google search)
on this server, you can host and test template, it’s absolutely free
" SMTP server or SMTP relay" - To be honest, i don’t know such detailed because never faced such problems
Wordpress has several approach to send mail function and they can run differently than html templates,
@ranjitsingh487 Would that work for a non-wordpress site? I am currently using Glint in HTML/PHP format not wordpress.
@Noda, I installed PHP 7.2.9 which is the current most recent stable release and verified that the necessary features were enabled within PHP yet the form still fails. So, i’m not sure what i’m doing wrong here. But i will try 000webhost.com and see if it runs smooth on there and work back from there.
@Noda That was what i was asking. What type of account? I don’t provide web interface hosting like a wordpress site or anything of that nature. I use IIS on a windows 2016 server. So if you want to look at the site and the code you will need either an FTP login or an RDP login to my server to access the sites back end.
Now if you were talking about an account from 000webhosting. I have yet to set that up. But let me know so i can get you access.
We are loosing too much time now
no, i cant offer my email because we dont provide support by email, and if someone else from my colleague want to check this problem they have to see it here,
You can use temporary access or guest access, we just need ftp access not server
That isn’t what i was saying @Noda. I don’t want email support. I wanted a more secure way of sending you the FTP credentials other than posting them here to the forum for everyone to see. But as I have found that you can send private replies i will just send that.
@Noda please confirm that you can view the private reply i sent you in this support topic. I have no way of knowing if it was sent to you or not. So please let me know if you can see it or not.
