Hello there! I really need help here please…
Yesterday my blog www.thewandersofmarty.com was working fine.
today, I couldn’t even see the page! When typing the site’s address, all I got was a blank page. Contacted the hosting site, after like 5 hours of live chat trying to solve the issue, they told me the problem is with the theme I am using.
They managed to partly solve the issue, meaning that now typing the address as normal in the URL, I can see the blog. BUT I can’t do anything else! As soon as I typed the /wp-admin to the address in order to access my site, I get a blank page all over again and can’t do anything!
I really have no idea what happened! I am using a child theme, If this helps? I am not very good at this, so apologies If I am missing something here, but I have no idea where to start! especially because I can’t do much with a blank page!
I contacted again the hosting site and the guy managed to make me go inside my admin. In order to do it, I had however to disable the child theme as they told me that’s where the problem /bug was! I switched now back to the parent Travelify theme!
I created a child theme so I could make changes etc without getting too many problems ( I understood that was the point of the child theme right?), but now of course all those changes I made in colours, posts etc are lost, being back to the original one.
Could you please help me? What happened? How can I switch back to the child theme without getting problems??
Could you send me a private email address?
I spoke with the guys from Siteground and they create for me a FTP account for you to access all the info of my child theme ( I am very bad at all this, sorry ).
Sorry again, as I am not very good at this, I don’t know how to share the child theme with you.
I asked my hosting for help and they set up that FTP account for me…I have now downloaded Filezilla and try to understand how everything works…can you just tell me why the FTP they created for me is not good and why I should create one?
Or, can I share here the details they gave me, such as username password etc for you to access that file? They told me it would have been better via email as it is more private, but I am not very familiar with all this so If you think it’s fine I can simply share it here?
Any news on this? Can you help me please?
I can’t still access my blog, when trying to insert wp admin I got a completely blank page!! And this has been going on since weeks!!! I don’t want to switch back to parent theme, so please can you help me with the child theme?
I have sent you privately the info for the FTP? Was there something wrong with it? Please let me know
Actually the FTP details that you have sent is not working for me so could you please check that the shared details are correct or share me your cPanel details?
Alternatively you can install any of the following plugins on your site to download your child theme in zip format and share it to me.
Are the details provided finally fine for you to check? I’m still having the same problem, please help me!
Out of interest…is there a paid version of Travelify? I know you guys do it for free and I am sorry to bother you, but I don’t know how to fix this problem which is related to the child them and have no other choice to ask you!
I have contacted again Siteground and they created another FTP account for me! I hope this is the right time finally! This is what they wrote me in the live chat “Give me a moment and will create account which the support of the theme will be able to use and check the theme from their end”:
I switched it back to the parent Travelify theme with the help of the hostsite, so that one works fine. But as soon as I switch to the child theme, I can’t access anymore.
I can work on the parent theme but I am afraid that once there will be updates, I will loose the changes I put. That is why I would like to know what’s wrong with the child theme.
But you said you can’t access it, even with all details provided?
The shared FTP details are not working for me but i managed to download the theme from your site admin area.
I used the Travelify Child theme on my test site which is downloaded from your site and it’s working fine for me as shown in the attached screenshot. I can access both admin area and front end of the site when this theme is activated.
I think this can be due to plugin conflict on your site so please try temporary deactivating all plugins and see whether everything works fine and then enable the plugins one by one to see which plugin is conflicting if any.
Yes, I have no problem in accessing the site now. I tried to do like you suggested, I deactivated all the plug ins and activated them back on one by one but nothing happened. Apparently they are all fine.
However, now every time I edit a post when I click on “Update” I get a blank page again.
If I open another window, I can see the post has been updated fine but that has never happened before and it’s a bit strange every time I update something, having to re open the site on a different page.
